Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I received the result for a urinalysis that showed WBC 6-10(0-5/hpf)A and WBC Esterase 1+(Negative)A Ketones -Trace (negative)A Could you kindly explain this result for me . The doctor suspected I had a UTI but the results of the test showed that I didnt have a UTI .T hanks
White blood cells (WBC) , normally respond to infection but they can be present in small quantities in normal circumstances.
The white blood cell count is low in the stated above result. If an urinary tract infection was present then there would be a lot more white blood cells present. The urine would also be positive for nitrates as well.
In some cases of infection , blood and protein are also seen.
I hope this helps
